Questions
About Housing.
What is the price-to-rent rule?
Divide the price of a home by its annual rent. Above about 20, renting is usually cheaper. Below about 15, buying tends to win. Grownz shows the ratio and a verdict, not a recommendation.
Does the verdict consider how long I will stay?
The verdict is a filter from the ratio. Buying and selling costs mean short stays rarely pay, which the Learn article on renting versus owning explains.
Can I compare two loans?
The Prepayment Lab works on the loan you enter. Try different prepayments and see the effect on interest and months.
