Getting started

How do I create an account?

Enter your email on the sign-in page and press Send me a code. Type the 6-digit code from the email. Your household is created on that first visit; there is no separate sign-up form.

Do I need a password?

No. Grownz is passwordless. Every sign-in uses a fresh 6-digit code sent to your email, valid for 10 minutes.

Do I need a card to start?

No. The Free plan has no card step, and during the beta Plus is granted on us with no payment taken.

Pricing

What does onboarding ask for?

Three things: what to call you, where you live (6 countries) with the currency for your numbers, and your life stage. Your time zone is read from the browser.

Which countries can I choose?

India, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, Singapore and Australia.

Markets

Can I pick a currency different from my country?

Yes. Country sets the number format and the billing rail; the currency for your numbers is a separate choice from the same 6.

What are the five tabs?

Home, Money, Grow, Housing and More. More holds Insurance, Loans and credit, Documents vault, Learn, Freedom planner, Daily expenses, Month in review, Family, Account, Goals, Reminders, Risk review, Ask Claude and Notifications.

What is a life stage?

One of five: First Job, Getting Stable, Growing, Building Wealth, Big Commitments. You pick one at sign-up and milestones unlock the next.

The five stages

How do I install Grownz on my phone?

Open Grownz in your phone browser and use the Install button, or your browser’s Add to Home Screen. It opens full screen with an offline shell.

Is there an iPhone or Android app in the store?

Not yet. Grownz is an installable web app on any phone. Store apps are on the roadmap.

How do I switch between light and dark?

The moon or sun button in the header. Your choice is remembered on that device.

How do I sign out?

Open the account drawer from your avatar in the header and choose Sign out.

Money

How do I set a budget?

On Money, set a limit for each category. The screen then shows spending against the limit for the current month.

How do I log an expense?

Daily expenses: enter the amount, tap a category, save. Optional: a note, a receipt, a bill with provider and due date, or a tip.

What is a bill?

An expense marked as a bill with a provider and a due date. Grownz raises a reminder for it.

How are tips recorded?

On the expense form choose Paid a tip? and pick 5, 10 or 15 percent. The tip is recorded with the expense.

What is Month in Review?

A monthly read of your spending with 7 rule-based insights, then a button to close the month. Part of Plus.

Money features

What are the 7 insights?

Total versus budget, largest overspend, best-controlled category, savings rate, chronic overspend across months, saved to passive, and mid-month pace.

What does closing the month do?

It marks the month as reviewed, sets the next review reminder, and counts toward the First month closed milestone.

What is the savings rate?

Income minus spending, divided by income, for the month. It appears in Month in Review.

Can I edit or delete an expense?

Yes. Open the expense from the Money list to change or remove it.

Can I attach a receipt?

Yes, on Plus. The receipt goes to the Documents vault on a signed link and is attached to the expense.

Grow

What is the freedom ratio?

Passive income divided by monthly expenses, as a percentage. Below 25% is starting, below 100% building, 100% and above is free.

Grow features

What counts as passive income?

What your assets pay out: dividends, rent, interest, distributions, plus any manual passive income you enter. Price growth does not count until it pays out.

Which asset classes can I hold?

Cash, bonds, equity, REIT, property, gold and retirement.

What is the Rat Race Exit Planner?

The screen with the freedom ratio gauge, the gap to close, and an asset library that shows what pays out. Reached from Grow or from More as Freedom planner.

What is Scenario Lab?

Three sliders plus editable yield, growth and inflation assumptions, with a month-by-month projection. Nothing is saved. Part of Plus.

Is the projection a forecast?

No. It shows what your own assumptions imply. It is illustrative and not advice.

How is net worth calculated?

Assets from your holdings and home equity, minus what you owe on loans. Shown on Home in your display currency.

What is the emergency fund target?

A number of months of essential expenses you set in the planner settings. Completing it is a milestone for stage 4.

How do exchange rates work?

Rates refresh daily. Holdings in another currency are shown in your display currency at the latest rate.

Does Grownz recommend investments?

No. Grownz gives scenarios, not forecasts, and filters, not advice.

Housing

What does the rent versus buy check do?

It divides the price of a similar home by its annual rent and gives a verdict from that price-to-rent ratio.

Housing features

What is a good price-to-rent ratio?

A rough rule: above about 20, renting is usually cheaper; below about 15, buying tends to win. Grownz shows the ratio and a verdict, not a recommendation.

How do I enter my rent?

On Housing choose Renting, then enter rent, deposit and lease end. Rent can also be logged as a bill so it raises a reminder.

What is the EMI split?

For a home loan, how much of each payment is interest and how much is principal. Early on most of it is interest; the split flips over time.

What is the Prepayment Lab?

Enter a prepayment amount and see the interest it removes and the months it takes off the loan. Illustrative, never saved.

What is the down-payment goal?

A savings target for buying. Funding it is one of the three milestones for stage 5.

Does the housing share of income matter?

Housing shows your housing cost as a share of income so you can see whether rent or an EMI is crowding out saving.

Family

How do I invite someone?

On Family, the owner mints an 8-character invite code, optionally emailed with a join link. It expires in 7 days.

Family features

What is the difference between a member and a viewer?

Members see everything and can add to it. Viewers see only the areas you switch on, at the detail you choose, and can never edit.

Which areas can I share?

Expenses, budgets, savings, debts, planner and documents, each on or off per viewer.

What is summary mode?

A viewer setting where every amount is blanked before it leaves the server. The viewer sees structure, not numbers.

How many people can I add?

Free has no family seats. Plus has 1. Pro has 5.

How do I join a household?

Open the join link or enter the code at Family. You can belong to more than one household and switch between them.

How do I remove someone?

From Family, choose Remove beside their name. Access ends immediately.

Can I revoke an invite?

Yes, from the list of open invites on Family, before it is used or expires.

Can I preview what a member sees?

Yes. Beside a member there is a link to see what they see.

Plans and billing

What is in Free?

Budgets and Daily expenses, the freedom ratio and planner, housing, insurance, loans, goals, reminders, the Documents vault and Learn. No family seats.

What does Plus add?

Month in Review with insights, Scenario Lab, receipts attached to expenses, and 1 family seat.

What does Pro add?

Everything in Plus, Ask Claude on your own key, the Annual risk review with history, and 5 family seats.

How much does it cost?

Plus is INR 299 a month for Indian households and USD 3.99 everywhere else. Pro is INR 599 or USD 6.99. Yearly is 10 months. Your household currency only changes how your numbers are shown.

Pricing

Who bills me?

Razorpay for Indian households, with cards and UPI. Stripe elsewhere. Grownz never sees your card or UPI details.

How do I upgrade?

More, then Your plan. Only the household owner can start checkout. Payment happens on the provider’s page.

How do I cancel?

From Your plan. What you have paid for runs to the end of its period, then the household returns to Free.

How do I change my card or switch to yearly?

Open the billing portal from Your plan. It is the provider’s secure page.

What does "on us during the beta" mean?

During the beta, households are granted Plus without a subscription. Your plan says so. No payment is taken.

Do prices include tax?

Prices are shown before any tax the provider is required to add for your country. [PLACEHOLDER: tax wording for counsel]

AI on your key

What is Ask Claude about your numbers?

A plain-English read of your planner figures, under 120 words, facts only. It runs on your own Anthropic key. Part of Pro.

AI on your key

Where do I get a key?

From console.anthropic.com on your own account. Paste it on the Ask Claude screen.

How is my key stored?

Sealed with a server secret before it is stored, never logged, and only the last 4 characters are shown. You can remove it at any time.

What is Market context?

A live search for deposit rates, bond yields and recent central-bank moves where you live, with sources. At most 3 searches per answer. It never recommends an investment.

How does receipt reading work?

Attach a receipt to an expense. With a key stored it is read and the form pre-filled. You review and submit; nothing saves itself.

Does Grownz store what Claude writes?

No. Explanations are shown, not stored.

Who pays for the AI?

You pay Anthropic directly for what you use. Grownz adds no AI charge and does not meter usage.

What does Claude see?

Derived numbers from your planner, never your notes or documents, except the single receipt you ask it to read.

Why does it say "Not available here"?

The server has no key-sealing secret configured, so keys cannot be stored on that environment.

Security and data

Can another household see my data?

No. Every financial table is keyed by household and Postgres row-level security enforces it on a restricted role, with cross-household tests in CI.

Security

Is my session token in the browser?

No. Sessions live in an httpOnly cookie and the browser talks to a server proxy.

Is there an audit log?

Yes, append-only. Update and delete are revoked on it at the database.

Where is data hosted?

The application runs on Fly.io and the database, authentication and storage on Supabase. Regions are stated once the production deployment is final.

Who are the sub-processors?

Fly.io, Supabase, Vercel, Stripe, Razorpay, Resend, Inngest, Sentry, Doppler, and Anthropic: in the product only when you supply your own key, and for the website assistant when that upgrade is switched on.

Sub-processors

Does Grownz see my card?

No. Checkout and the billing portal run on Razorpay or Stripe pages.

How are documents stored?

On a private storage bucket, uploaded from your browser on a one-time signed link. The API never handles the file bytes.

How long is data kept?

Financial detail until account deletion plus 30 days; documents 7 years after close where tax law requires, else 30 days; the audit log 2 years. See the data-classification register.

How do I report a security issue?

[PLACEHOLDER: security contact address]. You will get a reply.

Troubleshooting

I did not get the code

Check spam, wait a minute, then request again. Codes are limited per email and per address to stop abuse.

Nothing happens when I tap a tab

Reload the page. If it persists, sign out and in again, and tell us the time and the tab.

My numbers look wrong after a save

Retries never duplicate: every save carries an idempotency key. Reload to see the saved state.

A viewer says they see blanks

That is summary mode. Switch the viewer to full detail on Family if you want them to see amounts.

My profile photo does not show

Photos are served from storage. Try again after a reload; if it persists, remove and re-add the photo.

Grownz is offline

The installed app shows an offline page when there is no network. Financial data is never cached, so reconnect to continue.

Limits and roadmap

Is there a native iOS or Android app?

No. There is native groundwork, but no store builds. Use the installable web app on any phone.

Are there market opportunity alerts?

The Pro entitlement includes them, but nothing is published yet. Do not expect alerts until the site and app say they are live.

Can I export my data?

Not yet as a self-serve feature. Request it by email and it is handled manually. [PLACEHOLDER: privacy contact address and response time]

Can I delete my account?

Not yet as a self-serve feature. Request it by email and it is handled manually, with the retention periods in the data-classification register.

Are uploads scanned for malware?

Not yet. Uploads are signed, size-limited and private, but there is no malware scan or metadata stripping today.

Does Grownz limit my AI spend?

No. You pay Anthropic directly and Grownz does not meter usage. Set limits in your Anthropic account.

Can the milestone rules change?

Yes. They are the product’s current starting point and may change as Grownz learns. The Stages page lists them as they are today.

Does Grownz model CPF, superannuation or offset accounts?

No. Hold balances under the retirement asset class and use the Prepayment Lab for extra repayments.

Is there a bug bounty?

Not a public one. Report issues to the security address.

Ask the assistant, or start free.

The assistant is automated, not a live agent. Contact routes are on the contact page.
