Rules, not guesses
Month in Review does not use a model. It runs seven plain rules over the month's expenses and budgets and writes one line for each that fires. You can read every rule and predict every line.
The seven insights
- Total versus budget. Did the month land over or under the sum of your limits, and by how much.
- Largest overspend. The single category furthest past its limit.
- Best controlled. The category that used the smallest share of its limit.
- Savings rate. Income minus spending, over income, with the amount saved.
- Chronic overspend. A category over its limit for several months running.
- Saved to passive. Money that moved into assets that pay out.
- Pace. Mid-month, the projected total if spending continues at the current rate.
Closing the month
Closing is a button, not an automatic event. It marks the month reviewed, sets the next review reminder, and counts toward the First month closed milestone that helps unlock stage 3, Growing. Doing it on purpose is the habit the feature exists to build.
What it needs from you
Budgets for every category and expenses logged during the month. The more of the month is in Daily expenses, the more the seven rules have to say.
